App analysis provides estimated downloads and revenue for any selected app. You can compare different apps, run competitor analyses across various time periods and storefronts, and discover your competitors’ daily and monthly active users. Additionally, you can analyze user engagement and identify the countries where your competitors attract the majority of their audience.

In this article, we will talk about how to make the most of the App Analysis tool. Let’s dive in!

1- This section allows you to search for any app you want. This app will serve as your main app while using App Analysis, but you can change it at any time.

2- Here, you can change the storefront you want to conduct your analysis; you can also change the storefront any time you want to compare your performance in different countries.

3- In the third section, you select competitors for your main app. You can add multiple competitors for comparison. To add new competitors, click the '+' button and search for any app you like. The algorithm will also suggest a few apps that could enhance your competitor list. Also, next to the country dropdown, you’ll see a dropdown named “All Competitors.” Clicking on it and then clicking on the “Add New” button will let you segment your competitors into cohorts, which you can use to dive deeper into the analysis.

4- In the App Analysis section, you have access to a set of metrics that allow you to evaluate app performance. These metrics include:

  • Download Estimation: Get insights into how many times an app has been downloaded.

  • Revenue Estimation: Understand any app’s revenue generation over a specified period.

  • Daily Active Users (DAU): Track the number of unique users who engage with an app daily.

  • Monthly Active Users (MAU): Measure the broader engagement by viewing the monthly active user count.

  • Audience Geography: See where an app’s users are located globally to tailor your marketing strategies accordingly.

  • Select the metrics you wish to analyze from the menu to view detailed data in the table below.

5- This section lets you control the visibility of your competitors. You can choose which competitors you previously selected will be displayed and in what order. You can add new competitors with the '+' button, and adjust the display settings using the small blue checkbox.

6- This is where you can select the dates you want to analyze. Simply choose two dates, and the chart will display the performance of the selected apps for that specific time period.

7- Last but not least, number 7 is the table view according to your selections, each line representing another value. From the “Annotations +” button you can add personal notes for yourself or everyone on your team to see. Annotations allow you to manually input external factors like social media trends, marketing campaigns, or industry news, giving you a clearer picture of how these events impact your app's performance.

You can download the data as a CSV file using the 'CSV' button, adjust the data by device type (iPhone, iPad), and change the table format (line table, area chart).

Additionally, you can switch between a linear scale (standard calculation of counts over time) or a logarithmic scale (best for wide ranges of values).

At the bottom, you’ll find a short summary of the table where you can see the download and revenue metrics by country or by app.
