Search result ads are the most significant ad placement in Apple Search Ads, with many apps allocating a substantial portion of their budget to compete for top keywords. MobileAction’s Search by Competitor tool allows you to compare your keyword performance directly against your competitors, providing valuable insights that can help you refine your Apple Search Ads strategy. Let’s walk through how to make the most of this tool, one step at a time.
How to use Search by Competitor
1. Click on the Search by Competitor tab under Search Ads Intelligence.
2. On this page, you’ll see the data that belongs to your app. Add the app you want to compare against your own to start the comparison. You can add the competitor either by clicking the VS section button or the Add Competitor button above.
Remember that if you have a competitor list for your app, you can switch between competitors easily by clicking on the selected competitor’s icon and clicking on another competitor in the list.
3. After selecting your competitor, select the date range and storefront you wish to analyze for the comparative performance.
4. You can choose from 3 options to analyze:
Keywords unique to your paid keyword list compared to the selected app.
Mutual keywords shared between your app and the competitor.
Keywords the competitor is using, but you are not.
5. After clicking on the selected option, view the list of keywords, including impression shares, rankings for these keywords, search popularity scores, and the total number of apps currently ranking for these keywords.
Keep in mind that, you can download the list of keywords as a CSV document by clicking the CSV button.
